The Friends of Farnborough Fields Group is a new group that has been set up in Castle Vale to conserve, enhance and develop the Farnborough Fields area.
Farnborough Fields is located in the South Easterly Corner of the Castle Vale Estate.The site has approximately 5 1/2 acres of green open space consisting of a wildflower meadow, mixed grassland, woodland and tree copses, scrub land, wildlife pond and young tree plantations, all of which supports local and visiting wildlife, a Stable and Paddocks, Allotments, Vale Stadium and Playing Fields, and a Park Area. There are plans to relocate the secondary school onto to some of the current paddocks site (subject to planning permission).
The next meeting will be held on Wednesday 14th October at 5pm at Castle Vale Stadium, off Farnborough Rd, Castle Vale B35 7BE, 5pm – 7pm.
At the meeting the group will agree the constitution, agree committee roles, have an update regarding the plans for the new school build/relocation of the paddocks and discuss future projects.

Castle Vale Allotments Open Day – Saturday 10th October, 10am to 3pm
Castle Vale Leisure Gardens Association would like to invite you attend their open day this Saturday. The allotments is behind the Stables just off Farnborough Rd (by the ridings Care Home)
The allotments is a lovely site with plot holders growing all kinds of fruit, vegetables and flowers some even have chickens!
On the day the plot holders will be doing tours of the allotments and community garden, there will be family workshops and activities and you will have the chance to purchase refreshments and cakes.
The allotments open day is part of Castle Vale Environment Month. Over the course of the month local groups and organisations will be working together to promote open spaces in Castle Vale, Share information and raise awareness of environmental issues.

Throughout October Castle Vale NPB will be working with local organisations and groups to raise awareness of environmental issues, share useful information about environmental services and promote usage of the many parks and open spaces we have on the estate.
Over the course of the month we have a number of activities and events taking place including free family sports sessions in Centre Park, an Allotments open day, a Big Tidy Up in the Conservation Area and a Family Halloween Bike Ride.

The Castle Vale community Awards will be taking place on Friday 16th October at Greenwood Academy, 7pm.
Time To Get Your Tickets – The countdown to the 2015 Castle Vale Community Awards is building with excitement, now that the second voting round is closed and the votes are being counted ready to announce the winners on the evening. Active Arts keep it a closely guarded secret with a handful of people sworn to secrecy which all adds to the atmosphere of the event.
Anyone can be part of the celebration, as the evening is open to the public as well as family and friends. It’s a great chance to celebrate with all the nominees and winners and learn about what they do, hear about what they were nominated for and get the chance to meet them.
Tickets are just £3 each which includes food (Caribbean buffet) and you’re able to purchase non-alcoholic drinks on the night or bring your own drinks (including alcohol).
You can buy your tickets from The Sanctuary, Castle Vale Library, the TRA or reserving online here to pay in advance or on the night. (All nominees receive 2 tickets each and can use the RSVP link to also reserve on line and buy extra.)
It will be a great evening filled with entertainment and the chance to win on the raffle. It’s now almost 9 months since the Charitable Trust took over the management of the Pool with the Castle Vale Pool Users Group and we are just about coming up for air. We realise that we haven’t properly introduced ourselves and it’s something we need to do.
