Castle Vale Neighbourhood Partnership Board
Working together to make Castle Vale an even better place to live
The event ‘Creative Careers 0121’ is a take on a alternative careers fair, aimed at young people thinking about a future within the creative industries, parents and educational providers.
Part of Global Entrepreneurship Week 2015 ‘Creative Careers 0121’ will see a number of individuals running there own creative businesses and enterprises come together to share their experiences, top tips, knowledge and their own journeys with others, providing a range of talks, demos and workshops offering attendees the opportunity to get the information they need from creatives themselves.
Running twice throughout the Day 12.30-3pm & 5.30pm-8pm
We have a programme of talks and workshops focused around coding, programming, app designing, film making, with the event finishing off with a marketplace of examples of these very creative businesses and the real people behind them.
Over the last few years in particular I have attended a large number of careers fairs across the UK, and feel that the majority are not geared up to reflect the real world of work future generations are going to be working in. There’s also very little opportunity for actual attendees at these events to actually get to talk to the people doing the jobs.
We still have a number of spaces at the event and we would like you to join us, so if your a parent, young person, teacher, youth worker or have a genuine interest in the Creative Industries book your free place via this link:
You can also take advantage of ALL DAY FREE PARKING at the Bullring.

What will Birmingham City Council look like in 2020?
And what kind of things need to change to get there?
Birmingham City Council needs to change and has less money to spend on services, so the council of 2020 will look very different to the council today.
It needs your help to shape the services our city wants.
The council has already had invaluable conversations with people across the city, in all walks of life, in the five years since budget cuts started to make an impact on the delivery of services.
And over the past few months, the council has looked at its work in detail through its Future Council programme.
At the heart of the new approach that’s emerging will be working locally with community groups. The council needs you to let it know if it is on the right track and to share your own thoughts and experiences.
Councillors and council officers are holding practical workshops in all ten city districts in early November on the council of the future.
Places on the workshops are available on a first come, first served basis. Click on the link below for the workshop you would like to attend and follow the instructions.

We are looking for your ideas as to how we should best use the ground floor community space in Spitfire House.
BMetC sold Spitfire House, or Castle Vale Community Campus as it is known to some, to East Birmingham Network Free School (EBN) in July 2015. Since then the Free School has opened, making use of the first and second floor in the building. The ground floor of the building is protected for community learning use and over the past few months community representatives have been meeting with the EBN to negotiate the use of this space.
The TRA will have better office facilities with more private interview space. The library will continue in the same space with upgraded toilet facilities. The TRA will manage the community facilities which will include rooms for community hire and other community uses.
Ideas put forward so far include a community cafe and fresh food co-operative or community shop.
We are confident that we can make better use of the building for the community – but we need to know what you want! Nothing is decided yet so come along and have a look at the new plans and share your thoughts about how the community can make better use of the building.
You can let us have your views in a number of ways…
